Look Before You Take DHEA

DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is an adrenal hormone researchers claimed would halt the ravages of aging. It is touted the ‘fountain of life hormone’, in almost the same manner as melatonin, the neurohormone.

Studies show DHEA can actually boosts sex drives, enhances memory, energy, mood and protects the immune system. Other studies claimed disease prevention, if high blood levels are maintained by supplementation.

Other reports warned of limitations brought about by the long term effects of DHEA supplementation. Extreme caution should be taken when supplementing, since DHEA converts to estrogen and testosterones, which can accelerate cancer growth.
